Anyone have Sleep Apnea? Does the CPAP machine work..?

I snore terribly and have gone thru tests and apparently I have Sleep Apnea. I’ve been given this horendous machine that makes me feel like Darth Vader to help me “breathe” properly at night, but I can’t cuddle with hubby or relax or move for that matter? Is it worth using it? I truly despise the thing.

I have severe OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) and have used my CPAP for two years now. When I was diagnosed, I decided to embrace the treatment and going in with a positive attitude makes a huge difference. My level is 13 cm/H2O and when I first got it, I had some trouble getting the headgear adjusted right but once I found that magic spot, I’ve been loving it.

I’m so much more rested. I have more energy. I’ve lost weight without consciously changing my diet or activity. I find I’m naturally eating less and moving more! My spouse now sleeps without the sound of a leaf blower in bed, and my doctor has noticed the improvements.

Stop despising it and embrace it. You really have little alternative but surgery that is normally about 50% effective if your doctor will do it or more severe health problems.

How To Treat Sleep Apnea In Children

Sleep Apnea is a disorder that can be very dangerous if not life threatening if conditions are not treated. This is especially so in infants. The older a child gets, the less life threatening it is but it can cause emotional disorders and developmental problems in school.

Sleep disorders can be caused by a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons can be an obstructed airway passage, narcolepsy and a poorly developed sinus cavity. There are sleep apnea cures, however. A sleep study is usually ordered to determine the level of severity of the sleeping disorder. Once this is determined, there will be several options to curing of relieving the problem. Sometimes, it requires surgery to fix the sinus cavity to allow for easier breathing. Another way is to use a CPAP or continuous positive airway pressure machine and CPAP accessories.

A CPAP is the least invasive form of relief for treating sleep apnea. It is a machine that is used during sleep to continually move oxygen through the nose and into the bloodstream to the heart, brain and lungs. This increases healthy brain, lung and heart function as when your airway is restricted, and this will cause a strain on the heart and could eventually lead to heart dysfunction later in life. Lack of oxygen will also cause developmental issues and could also lead to depression. When you notice that your child is not sleeping well, take him/her to the Pediatrician to discuss all possible options for relief. For more information visit to our site  at http://www.us-med.com
